Monthly Progress Report #3
the engine has stalled
“The Engine has stalled.”
Essentially, we threw our full force and efforts for a month straight (with a few days of demoralization spruced within) into the Alien Ant Apocalypse. We wrote some lore, but not as much as we’d like. We encountered some writer’s block. We focused on Twitter, most likely to our detriment. It is a necessary evil. Perhaps it would be easier to simply buy one of those Twitter accounts that already comes with thousands of followers.
We’ve done everything the hard way, and … it is hard. We try to maintain a human’s integrity and decorum in what is essentially an ape-controlled jungle. The Solana NFT ecosystem moves very fast, building and maintaining hype remains a challenge. The good news though is there are still a LOT of people who haven’t heard of us yet but will.
Even if I only gain a few followers a day, that will translate into a few more likes, retweets, etc. Eventually, the numbers will start compounding on themselves.
We like to be on the cutting edge, but the problem is- the cutting edge keeps getting sharper and finer as time goes on and mastering the blade becomes exponentially more difficult. The classic marketing techniques (SEO) I’ve used in the past are outdated and outmoded. None of this seems to apply on Twitter.
People like the content, but it doesn’t seem they like the Ants.
So, we simply need to find a way to make them like the Ants.
Easier said than done.
As I’ve stated previously, I’ll be returning back to work in the real world, and unfortunately, this project will slow down a bit. That’s fine, we will focus on quality over quantity.
We’re building a team to help this project and we’ve put all of our faces on the brand, to give an air of authenticity. I think that’s already doing more than 99% of every project out there.
It has been frustrating, demoralizing, and depressing trying to launch this NFT project with no experience. We bit off more than we could chew, and severely underestimated the tenacity of the market. We won’t make this mistake again.
Now it is time to practice acceptance of our mistakes and regroup our mind, body, and spirit. The Trifecta. None can prosper without the support of the other.
It is particularly easy for me to “beat myself up” for my mistakes, and I truly hate being a disappointment to others. It makes me quite disappointed in myself- but I am human. It is clear that there is no demand, so we simply need to create excessive demand before we release any more Ants into circulation. Thus, I am capping the supply for quite a while, probably a month- at the least, while we generate hype and demand throughout the month of April.
During this time we will clean up some documentation, make things more accessible, hire a full-time Discord person (I simply don’t have the time or patience), and get a front-end (website) developed.
Sexy websites sell NFTs. So does staking, so we will get a staking mechanism rolled out ASAP.
I think that in 1 month the following milestones can be achieved:
1. Fleshing out and building a team (I cannot do this alone, I’ve accepted my fate)
2. Have someone design a sexy website
3. Roll out the staking
Our Twitter/Discord presence will be lessened, and instead we will focus on getting some things built. Then hopefully by May we will “re-release” ourselves back into the ecosystem at which point we hope that demand exceeds supply.
In hindsight, this is probably what we should have done for the month of March, instead of worrying about sales or marketing. We kind of rushed things because we felt everyone had waited long enough.
The good news for them is that they were able to gather Ants very cheaply.
This grace period has expired, and we doubt that any Ant will go less than $200 a piece come May 1st. In fact, we will make sure that this reserve is met.
I think that is all for now.
